So what’s new, and why has it been updated?
You will find much is the same as before, but the software that runs the website simply needed to be brought up to date, not just to take advantage of advances in technology, but also to protect the website from hackers and spammers.
Apart from a fresh new look the website now performs much better on smart-phones and tablets.
The new ‘responsive’ design automatically rearranges the website depending on whether you are on a phone, a tablet or a desktop/laptop.
You can now watch all of the video content on your smartphone and tablet.
You can now login using your Facebook account, which is one less username and password to remember.
Gone are the fiddly “Captcha” forms that were a necessary evil to prevent the website getting clogged up with vile spam, replaced with a simple checkbox to confirm that you’re ‘not a robot’.
Now, when you are logged in, you will see a new menu item, “Your Profile”, which is a quick link to a page where you can update your name, username, password, email address and opt in/out of receiving email updates.
There is also a new “Messaging” menu item for logged in users, which allows you to send private messages to other website members.
The new software behind the website will allow me to add all sort of new features in the future, maybe even a permanent live chat page!
Unfortunately, for the moment the Shop is not open as I still have some more testing to do first.
This is a brand new website, and despite all the vigorous testing I can never simulate what happens when hundreds of people all try and use the site at the same time. So please bear with me if we have some teething troubles.
Please let me know of anything you see that doesn’t seem to be working properly. Please send me a message here: http://www.steveharley.com/contact.html and I'll get the fixes done as quickly as I can.
Kind regards
Andy (webmaster)
