I am devastated,

Steve’s songs brought me such pleasure and in many cases, such as Nothing is Sacred, Virginia Woolf and Tumbling Down, educated me in matters of art, literature and mythology.

I went to see him in Belfast last May and he was brilliant as always..

Little realising I would never see him again..

Farewell and RIP to El Gran Senor.

Such incredibly sad news it's hard to comprehend. Steve's music has been with me since 1973 - so long in fact it seems like part of my DNA. I count myself really lucky to have seen him onstage so many times and even luckier to have acquired his 'Black Tak' guitar at auction which he even personally delivered to me at work. Steve was a truly great, generous, genuine guy and a wonderful composer/musician. Totally unique and to be remembered always.
My sincere sympathy to all his family. RIP.

Its a very very sad day. I am really shaken hearing this.
Though I never knew Steve personally, one immediately warmed to him.
I have loved his unique and wonderful music for 50 years. It was a real privilege to attend many fantastic performances in recent years. Every one was such an uplifting and memorable occasion.
My condolences to Steve’s family and to all his friends.
