I for one,am glad the Phantom thing went tits up for Steve,
Because if that had happened as planned,I doubt we would here today, twenty years on enjoying magnificent gigs, new music, new albums, meeting and chatting to friends far and wide.
No more likely instead of looking forward to more gigs this year, and the massive plan for the first two albums concert next year,we would probably be looking forward to a former pop star playing the widow twanky in december, in pantomime at desperate-on-sea.(are you looking in Mr.Midge Ure).!!! LOL.

p.s
Steve still did The Phantom song(s) better than Crawford ever did,and Lloyd Webber knows it too.Steve's version of 'Music of the Night' is just magnificent.
Jimbo,

B) Jimbo, where can I get to listen to Steve singing "Music of the Night"? I've never heard it and would love to! The only song from "Phantom" that I've heard is the duet with Sarah Brightman. B)

I don't know... He put out two FABULOUS DVDs: one in 1984 and one in 1989. I have them both and still am captivated by them, even after numerous watchings. :)

You got to hear my rantings about this subject live, but I have to agree again here, as someone who was a Phantom Phan before she was a Harley!Fan. I'm gonna leave out the essay I could write of why he's my ideal phantom singer/actor, and just reiterate about how fantastic he would have been and what a great job he did with Phantom of the Opera.

As much I as ADORE Steve's Phantom (still haven't heard his Music of the Night) I am also glad it didn't work out. We got soooo much awesome original music instead.

Agreed, Steve was better off never playing Phantom. He just seemed to have a lazxy 80s, but never heard anything about a serious illness...is that Wikipaedia spreading that rumour?
