Greetings, readers.
I sit here at breakfast with Rachel and my Tour Manager, and thought I,d just say, thanks for all the kind words re the shoows so far. Manchester - Stewart and Graeme have told you, and they are about right! Memorable, truly a great feeling throughout the night. Some of the acoustic nights have had special moments, too. We improvise much of thee time and that must reach the audiences. More discipline with thee full band. Strange going from 5 shows as a meandering 3-piece to playing as a team of eight! Black Or White: I don't believe it was ever included in a Live set, but you know how wrong I can be.....heard it on the tour bus the other day. Mighty big production, isn't it! Hadn't heard it for many many years. The Orchestra and Choir one-off, end of next year, is ostensibly to cover the completefirst two albums, adding an arranged Judy Teen, which sat between the two. Black Or White could be added, maybe even as the last track of the night. Don't know yet whether 'll include Make Me Smile, but we do have a cool, modern string/brass/choral arrangament sitting here with us, and I have to admit, as in Manchester, when an entire room gets behind it (and there could be - I pray - two thousand + in the Symphony Hall), it is a great emotional wash which everyone must sense. And, yes, we will play one Weekender at a resort end of February: one show, one night, one hour of hits n more to a crowd I might never have tapped into before. Don't even think of it as a "sell out". To me, it's part of the adventure. We've said no to many, many such offers, but we said yes to this one. There are reasons, our reasons. That'll be the only time the rock band will play together next yyear, apart from Birmingham - wwhich sure looks like a goer from where I'm sitting. And that is at breakfast in a superb country house hotel in the Milton Keynes area after a night off. Good thoughts to alal. Steve H.
