I must admit steph i have listened to this several times this evening.what a song,what a voice.how did this never make it to an album. Just brilliant. X

I'd forgotten all about this song. 'Back in the day' I was always astounded at the quality of song Steve would put on the B sides. What a treasure - thanks for reminding me about it and thanks for the link Jimbo.

you know what all those old 'b' sides would make a cracking album if they were re-mastered,and put together,maybe include heartbeat like thunder,I cant even touch you,even the theme from babbacombe lee would sit nice.keep us all happy,along with the possible 'live' releases until november. B)

To be perfectly honest I always liked the song much more than the A side. And it was always nice and a better value for money option than just banging a weaker album track on the B side.Fair play to the band.
I didnt really go for Cockney Rebel until the second band opened my eyes (ears).I was a Faces/Rod fan up to then but the Faces split in 74 and when I left school in 1976 the coolest kids at college were Rebel fans and I got hooked.
I've also always had leanings towards Dylan and I still believe Steve Harleys lyrics are some of the closest Ive ever heard to his.
