The Stranger Comes To Town but I don't think he's Prince Charming.

charm
v.tr.
1. To attract or delight greatly.
2. To induce by using strong personal attractiveness
3. To cast or seem to cast a spell on; bewitch.

v.intr.
1. To be alluring or pleasing.
2. To function as an amulet or charm.
3. To use magic spells.

The wonderful Ms Simone and the delectable  Mr Ferry spring to mind.

Good gawd me lord, what is BB on??? He/she must have been at Santa's sherry a bit early on!! SH is Mr Charm himself, and I've had the pleasure of talking to him outside venues on more than one ocasion...got my photo with him three times. BB - Ferry is dull, dull, dull, have you heard him being interviewed? By Steve Wright this year, so boring. SH is alive and vibrant, and doesn't need a dictionary to know what "charming" means! Sober up, I was depressed enough listening to Sir Tel say goodbye a few minutres ago.....your gobbledeegook hasn't helped!!!

Sorry I've upset you Groverhead. :(

I feel a little hurt that you've misunderstood what I was trying to put forward and implied that I was stealing Santa's sherry supply – a magnum of bubbles is more my style. I was merely playing a game of 'guess the cover song' using clues suggested in previous posts. Steve's words “Cover song recorded and we are all charmed by it. But which one of the many dozens suggested? Which one? That word, charm”

Prince Charming has already been mentioned and derided in this thread.

In my last post I highlighted charm - cast a spell on. I love Nina Simone's version of I Put a Spell on You and would be more than happy if, when the the Stranger Comes To Town, Steve charms us with his interpretation of this song.

I'm sure that Bryan Ferry has put a spell on many with his rendition of the song. I totally agree with you that he can be dull – my apologies to his fans who think otherwise. I've seen him once live, in Stockholm, just over 2 years ago, a “paint by numbers” gig which didn't impress me but there were many in the audience who were clearly moved by him. Steve, I've seen live many times, always been totally enchanted and hopefully he will enthral me on many more occasions. However horrifying it may be to you, I do find Mr Ferry rather pleasing on the eye and so I expressed my embarrassment when I described him as 'delectable'.

Dry your eyes, Groverhead, Terry's back in February and try YouTubing “The Floral Dance” (not sure if I'm allowed to post links, so will play safe and not risk it) – this always will Make Me Smile and maybe it can work on you too.
