I came across a copy of a fanzine/programme from the mid-90s called 'yes you can' (Issue No. 5). The fanzine was produced by Kim Andrews, and sold at Steve's gigs. It contains domestic and European tour date listings for that year (1995 or 1996 I think).
'Yes you can' took over from Jon Downes fanzine 'My only vice' which ran for 13 (quarterly) issues between late '89 and late '93. Has anyone got any other copies/issues of 'yes you can' which list any further tour dates from the '90s? Listings of any non-British gigs would be great to see if they could be posted here, or photocopied and posted on to me. (OK, that's the last 'to do' of the day - off to the pub now)! |

I've got a copy of one of the YES YOU CAN I picked up a gig in 97 at Hemel Hempstead pavilion may 28 ? 29 th ? Anyway I know it was in may 97 coz I went for my birthday treat ( I hadn't seen him since crystal palace ! Or or was it wembley ? Anyway I'll dig it out I know there's a tour itinerary in it ! Coz I come home and read the thing from cover to cover and couldn't sleep with all the excitement of the night ! I went to Brighton to see him on the last date of that tour ! The paradox club it was . Never forget it ! There was not one poster up in or out side promoting him! Couldn't believe it ! Anyway I'm on a mission now to dig out that mag ! I met Steve that night in Hemel and he signed it " After all these years " Steve Harley and he rescued a runner way speaker one of the crew left on the ramp out side the back of the venue from trundling off into the front of me new car I'd just acquired ! I've seen Steve launch into a sprint and run n grab a runner way speaker lol ! Something's you never forget |

If i had a time machine i would take it back to 1972 and follow Steve and Cockney Rebel from the start. Unfortunately my first concert was much later than that in the 80's.I'll try to get my list photocopied and off to you as soon as possible Gerry. By the way Rachel does Steve want to hear from fans attending the Speakeasy gigs out of interest or is it because the whole weird and wonderful time was just a 'blur' to him? Wasn't that only supposed to happen during the 60's ?? !! Hi Mr Raffles, I got stuck into pulling together a spread sheet list of gigs today - I got so involved (i.e. I messed up sorting the data and had to unpick it!) I forgot about Cheltenham on the box! I think I may have to sit down in the British Library and start going through back copies of NME/Record Mirror - if you can send me your list I can add it to Graham, Ray and Stewart's work so far. Cheers, Gerry |

I remember the Ewell Tech gig. I went with some friends from school in Epsom. Cockney Rebel, as support band, weren't that well received as I remember but I was so impressed I've no idea now who the main band I'd gone to see were! Followed Steve over the years, last time (?2011)in a small club in Friar Street, Reading.

Hi Gerry. Sorry for the delay.Been away for a few weeks with other things on my mind.I'll get the gig list photocopied and sent off to you by the weekend. It covers the period from 1972-1976. There's some really obscure dates including some European ones as well.Nelda i think it was the group Man that Cockney Rebel supported at the Ewell Technical College. The earliest Cockney Rebel concert listed is from the Roundhouse in London July 1972. Maybe Rachel can ask Steve if he has any recollections of this? The band were supporting Jeff Beck which should ring a bell somewhere in Steve's memory bank.

OK- I attach below a list of Steve Harley shows between 1989 and 2004 (the website takes over there and my previous list went as far as 1984). I don't presume this to be completely correct, there are bound to be omissions inaccuracies, but at least it is a start. I am going to work with Andy to see if he can post these in such a way that we can add memories, links to pics/set lists/reviews etc). Kudos to Ray Smith for his help in creating this list.
