GedKen that was a brilliant read:-). Ah such memories I was at the St. Albans gig may 31st for my 14th birthday treat with me bowler hat and me big baggy strides and I had a golden top made of satin :-)

Excellent stuff GedKen,
the memories of those early magnificent nights will be with me forever.Five of us 18 year olds zipping up and down the M1 in my pals Cortina 2000E,(his old man was a very well off consultant, with a fuel account atBrockwell service station in Chesterfield !).
Going to gigs in many towns following the band to places like Leicester,Coventry,Aylesbury,Leeds,Manchester,Liverpool even as far as Cardiff,Plymouth and Exeter.
These days I am the only one of the group of us that still go to Steves gigs, still bump in to a couple of them occasionally and give them all the info I can of gigs etc,but due to the influx of ladies and babies in to their lives they have settled down in to middle aged normality,me....I'm unashamedly still an old rebelfreak!!
:woohoo:

Oh to have been part of it! You lucky, lucky people. What a time! Thanks for sharing your memories.

One of the things that I have never had any cognisance of before now was the sheer heady, bravado of it all; as the MM notes in '74, this was the first pro band for any of its members, none of them came from a 'rock' background, they eschewed the use of a lead guitarist, they wore flashy clothes as opposed T-shirts and jeans, and they told everybody how good they were - and they were!

If you were there then to see first Cockney Rebel, how you must savour these times as well. What a band they were. Well done to them all. Magnificent!
