16/05/2010 15:02:20 ‹Stella Day› Question for Steve. Do I remember right? I once heard Steve being interviewed back in the 70's and he said that "Catch A Falling Star" by Perry Como was one of his favourite songs as a kid. Is that right or am I going mad?
16/05/2010 15:02:21 ‹paulno1› patience deborah
16/05/2010 15:02:25 ‹ipswich› Hi Steve
16/05/2010 15:02:30 ‹SH› Mr Raffles most definitely IS a long religious allegory - how's that for starters?

16/05/2010 15:03:57 ‹SH› Baby Shoes. It's a sad story - children having children and not reallty having the means or wherewithal to deal with that
16/05/2010 15:04:06 ‹racinglisa› Hi Steve, last year we followed you to Quasimodo's in Berlin from over here in the UK, what did you think of the 'Jazz' club?

16/05/2010 15:06:16 ‹roywood› hi SH, how are the chances for a gig in Switzerland ?
16/05/2010 15:06:47 ‹maelitta› Hi Steve, happy to "see" you here, live. Here is my question : if you had to choose, in 1973, between being a composer and a lyrics writer (one or the other, both impossible), what would you have choosen ?
16/05/2010 15:07:02 ‹SH› Insdie of Timeless Flight was in my living room - 6th floor flat Harrowby St W1 above the Victoria Sporting Club; The Candidate was snapped by Mick Rock on the Thames near the city - very Dickensien still there
16/05/2010 15:07:22 ‹Jackie› Your relationship with Stuart has menagaed to last forever, through many incarnations. Are yu always in sync?
16/05/2010 15:07:23 ‹SH› Re album moniker - just a whim!
16/05/2010 15:07:30 ‹jdrebel› Hi steve any chance of filming a show for a big dvd release with all the extras ?
16/05/2010 15:07:34 ‹KarenM› thanks
16/05/2010 15:07:50 ‹SH› Would like to get back to Switzerland - my new agent is working on getting us everywhere!

16/05/2010 15:08:13 ‹SH› Stuart is one of the great good people of my life. A special man - a friend, yes

16/05/2010 15:08:28 ‹roywood› Dankeschön....
16/05/2010 15:08:36 ‹Stella Day› Bath or shower?
16/05/2010 15:08:37 ‹PeterJH› hi steve, brill new album. Once you have toured the new material, what is the chance of playing one of those classic album nights, as in Psychomodo or menagerie in its entirety? =))
16/05/2010 15:08:38 ‹racinglisa› Hi Steve, Just been told by the other half to say Hi, you did a forward for his racing ten-to-follow book a few years back and had a drink with you while he snapped away for a cockney rebel piece in the RP. See you at Wolverhampton!
16/05/2010 15:08:38 ‹joeboy› and a pimlico boy!!yes
16/05/2010 15:08:57 ‹SH› Maelitta: I would not want a life without a pen and notebook - words, words, words. The beauty of poetry can be heart wrenchimng

16/05/2010 15:10:02 ‹Pandorah› hello steve hope your well, I told you in germany that I love'd no bleeding hearts ! ( but i didn't know the title then thought it was called no hope, , but anyway, you should be well proud of this album it's brilliant from start to finnish, really looking forward to the live shows,
16/05/2010 15:10:30 ‹SH› PJH: Hello. The idea of a full-blown Human Menagerie/Psychomodo concert with choir and orchestra is appealing. My agent has been asked to look at the logistics. Might be a three-show tour at most
16/05/2010 15:10:55 ‹SH› Love Paradiso - maybe. We are always looking/discussing
16/05/2010 15:11:02 ‹PeterJH› ty would be brill

16/05/2010 15:11:32 ‹MARC› Steve, would you consider doing a Q&A show like the Brighton one @ Exeter Phoenix - great venue in Devon
16/05/2010 15:11:50 ‹SH› Danny didn't like Aske's; I did. My dad was his family's milkman too

16/05/2010 15:12:52 ‹Jackie› Dou you remember playing the Bottom Line in NYC in 1976? The best!
16/05/2010 15:12:53 ‹SH› Thanks for all your kind reviews and words generally re Stranger. The Classic Rock piece was a scandalous betrayal; we wonder what he has for a conscience
16/05/2010 15:12:58 ‹My Only Vice› Hello Steve. Congrats on a FABULOUS new album. Can I go back in time and ask you about 'Nothing is Sacred'. I adore it. Can you share a little about the inspiration/characters behind the song, and where it was written?
16/05/2010 15:13:00 ‹Joshua› How did you experience the new album (songs)
16/05/2010 15:13:27 ‹ipswich› Steve, Thanks for answering my question
16/05/2010 15:13:28 ‹SH› Nothing is sacred - hold on for me

16/05/2010 15:13:52 ‹My Only Vice› Always will!
16/05/2010 15:14:15 ‹Reb55› QUESTION FOR STEVE: On Mad mad moonlight, the lyrics "lets dance in the moonlight" sound like Cary Grant. Was this your intentin or is it just me?
16/05/2010 15:14:23 ‹Pandorah› I heard he had a good song ! I and so I came to see him, and listen for a while ! and there he was this young boy , a stranger to my eye's trumming my face with his fingerss, singing my life with his words, killing me softley with his song , killing me softly with words , killing me softly with his song
16/05/2010 15:15:03 ‹SH› Nothing Is Sacred was written on tour. Belgrade, on the Danube evn though I talk about Stockholm, by the rivver's edge - sang it on radio recently, changed that to "the water's edge" since someone rightly pointed out that Sweden is a collection of islands in the sea! But the word scanned so much better than Belgrade. It is a song of young men's friendship and bonding in a rock band
16/05/2010 15:15:10 ‹frankholland› don't understand someone writes such bullshit about best songwriter all time
16/05/2010 15:15:21 ‹THE PHANTOM› whats in your tea pandorah?

16/05/2010 15:16:26 ‹roywood› love to hear "no rain on this parade" live once
16/05/2010 15:16:47 ‹SH› Jst scrolled and seen how many of you are in here. Thank you. Don't burn the roast now
16/05/2010 15:16:52 ‹jdrebel› Steve any reason you left the "CR" name of of your new excellent album ?
16/05/2010 15:16:59 ‹crazy horse› STEVE quite a while ago you mentioned that yourself and MARC BOLAN worked on several songs together, any news on that project coming to light yet

16/05/2010 15:17:18 ‹racinglisa› Steve, do you have a favourite live track?
16/05/2010 15:17:32 ‹THE PHANTOM› how about elaborating on 'dont shoot til you see the whites of thier eyes' song?
16/05/2010 15:17:33 ‹paulno1› happy 50th for tomorrow Debs,no one sweeter can i find,our fav Harleyette xx
16/05/2010 15:17:37 ‹SH› The Marc songs are all gibberish really. Late nights, booze, usual 70s indulgences

16/05/2010 15:17:56 ‹mrraffles› Steve any plans of releasing " Between The Lines" from 1975 on DVD?
16/05/2010 15:18:00 ‹Joshua› question for Steve: Why did you choose for the song true love will find you in the end on your new album?
16/05/2010 15:18:05 ‹SH› Lisa: favourite Live track might just be Riding The Waves, but I have to move on and it might not make the cut on the new tour
16/05/2010 15:18:15 ‹frankholland› steve , nny chance to accept my mms painting ?
16/05/2010 15:18:38 ‹Stella Day› Do you sing in the bath/shower? and if so are they usually you're own songs?
16/05/2010 15:18:43 ‹PeterJH› the songs you recorded for phantom Steve, will they ever see the light of day? I would lve to hear them.
16/05/2010 15:18:46 ‹joeboy› how long did it take you to master the guitar and was it hard, like it was for me!!!
16/05/2010 15:18:56 ‹racinglisa› good question stella!!
16/05/2010 15:19:01 ‹SH› We don't have the rights to Between The Lines movie. Can't imagine where that would be now

16/05/2010 15:19:41 ‹joeboy› better than me!!
16/05/2010 15:19:47 ‹SH› Stella: I liein silence in the bath. Deep, dark silence. And I fret in the shower
16/05/2010 15:20:04 ‹Suemol› question for Steve- which song are you going to release as your 1st single from "Stranger comes to town?"
16/05/2010 15:20:07 ‹mags.miller101› After all these years of touring is some of it a chore or do you still get excited visiting new places? And where would you still like to visit?
16/05/2010 15:20:08 ‹Reb55› QUESTION FOR STEVE; On Mad mad moonlight, the lyrics "lets dance in the moonlight" sound like Cary Grant. Was that your intention or is it just me?
16/05/2010 15:20:08 ‹Stella Day› No way!!
16/05/2010 15:20:09 ‹Chrissy› I've loved your music since you very first started. Sebastian is the most wonderful song ever and I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I've seen you live 6 times and am looking forward to seeing you 'down the bush' on 10th of June. Can you give me a clue which songs from the new album you'll play, cos I love to sing along and have only learnt all the words to three songs so far!!!

16/05/2010 15:20:45 ‹Mike C› Hi Steve, Judy is trying to get hold of a copy of Ballerina (Prima Donna). Any chance of featuring that track on a CD sometime ?
16/05/2010 15:20:47 ‹THE PHANTOM› where did you meet your lovely wife and how did you propose?
16/05/2010 15:21:07 ‹SH› MAGS: I love touring. I see a great deal, galleries, cities, architecture - it's all grist to my cultural mill

16/05/2010 15:21:35 ‹Nick› Steve, which of your songs are you most proud of?
16/05/2010 15:21:48 ‹Mikeconnect› Hi Steve, my daughter Grace, who is 13 would like to know if she could sing 'Smile' with you at Shepherds Bush next month
16/05/2010 15:21:52 ‹SH› Perhaps you can help me learn the words - it's a struggle!!
16/05/2010 15:22:49 ‹SH› Favourite painting - any Turner seascape, then Caravaggio
16/05/2010 15:22:59 ‹My Only Vice› Question for Steve (my second . . . hope that's not cheating!). Can you tell us what you think your most underated song is? (The one you are really pleased with but which is perhaps remains unseen / unappreciated by the masses!).

16/05/2010 15:23:57 ‹crazy horse› STEVE is there any reason ANOTHER JOURNEY seems to get overlooked ,i love it?
16/05/2010 15:23:57 ‹SH› Grace should make herself known - we'll see. Can't promise anything because it gets intense up there and we forget.
16/05/2010 15:24:23 ‹Stella Day› Is there anything you want to ask us?
16/05/2010 15:24:37 ‹Stella Day› Just kidding

16/05/2010 15:25:03 ‹Andy Fearon› Hi Steve. As a producer you've achieved lovely warm analogue sound on the new album. How much of this is vintage gear and how much is Pro Tools plugins?

16/05/2010 15:28:46 ‹SH› Ipswich: I am always happy to be approached, but don't get too involved. I like my privacy so much. It's a dilemma, public life/private life. But being recognised is a sort of cheap thrill, even now
16/05/2010 15:28:57 ‹Pandorah› i had to buy something off there to post a reveiew ! bought my one from play.com

16/05/2010 15:33:01 ‹SH› Phantom - I have the songs on cassette, but they're not really mine to release are they
16/05/2010 15:33:01 ‹MARC› my fav track Steve, reminds me of Joan Armatrading
16/05/2010 15:33:01 ‹KarenM› that was apocolyptic
16/05/2010 15:33:08 ‹THE PHANTOM› did your dad really play for millwall?
16/05/2010 15:33:29 ‹SH› Ye he did - in the war years
16/05/2010 15:33:30 ‹frankholland› do you remeber anything of yr geat performance on pinkpop '74 and what do you think of it now
16/05/2010 15:33:44 ‹Reb55› The words NO HOPE seem prominent throughout 'Stranger' . Why do you think this is?
16/05/2010 15:34:01 ‹jdrebel› Is it about low stocks of internal body parts?
16/05/2010 15:34:09 ‹SH› There is a great ophoto from behind me, from the drum riser somewhere, tambourine in the air at Pinkpop 74 - unfogettable.
16/05/2010 15:34:10 ‹joeboy› man utd, he must be a londoner!!!
16/05/2010 15:35:44 ‹SH› No hope - I fear the down grading, the mediocrity of our leaders, will doom the planet - not now please, but they're not a very clever or statesman-like bunch, the world over probably. The clever ones are in industry and commerce. Policitics tody is for 2nd rate egotists I'm afraid. But I have hope, of course, I love life
16/05/2010 15:35:48 ‹Andy Fearon› Give us a clue about No Bleeding Hearts - it's my fav on the new abum
16/05/2010 15:35:57 ‹My Only Vice› Can you enlighten us about the inspiration/meaning behind "No Bleeding Hearts" please?
16/05/2010 15:35:59 ‹stitch› trying to read all the q&a's - hard, so many of them!

16/05/2010 15:36:56 ‹Pandorah› the beauty is in the incocence below ,
16/05/2010 15:36:58 ‹ipswich› Steve Where is the cover of Stranger photograhed?
16/05/2010 15:37:32 ‹vaas› a question about "introducing the best years", Steve. what's going on there. Alan Parsons recalls recording a party inside the studio. What was going on and who screams "OUCH!" and why?
16/05/2010 15:37:46 ‹paulno1› my missus wasnt into crebel so i traded her in
16/05/2010 15:38:08 ‹SH› No Bleeding Hearts - there are disused diamond mines in South Africa, slaves spend 9 months doen there in the dark, little food; poor money but they are desperate. Google the story, and you'll get No Bleeding Hears. Without faith, no survival.
16/05/2010 15:38:32 ‹SH› The Innocents, it could also be, OPPandora. The poor slaves below
16/05/2010 15:38:35 ‹Nick› Steve, the opening words of the new album,"We live on Cartoons and Fridays..." would love to hear your take on this!
16/05/2010 15:39:12 ‹SH› The Stranger is all of us

16/05/2010 15:40:35 ‹KarenM› sounded so good live in Germany
16/05/2010 15:40:50 ‹frankholland› how long do we have?
16/05/2010 15:40:51 ‹SH› It's the ME generation of screen-huggers: cartoons - moving pictures, screens, pixels, and Friday is pay-day, Let's fly to Praguem get sozzled and annoy the locals! We are spoon fed topo, "no sense of chaos in the dance" -
16/05/2010 15:41:48 ‹frankholland› right!
16/05/2010 15:41:54 ‹Nick› thank you!
16/05/2010 15:42:14 ‹roywood› anyone who sees me salsa dancing can see the chaos....
16/05/2010 15:42:33 ‹crazy horse› Did you really get high on the coast of amalfi ,wine i presume ?

16/05/2010 15:43:35 ‹My Only Vice› Steve - I'd love to know who came up with the 'Cockney Rebel' name. Was it your idea?
16/05/2010 15:43:43 ‹Pandorah› no the views no doubt
16/05/2010 15:44:12 ‹SH› I still smile and a lot is tongue in cheek Paulno1. But I've always been serious, even in young age, and not sdo much of the old.
16/05/2010 15:44:27 ‹vaas› steve, i always wondered, who played violin on It wasn't me? And who came up with the delay effect on the hihat?
16/05/2010 15:44:46 ‹SH› Cockney Rebel was the title of a teenage poem. Useless poem, great title.
16/05/2010 15:45:25 ‹SH› John Crocker was the fiddle player, surely? Isn't that on Psychomodo?
16/05/2010 15:45:32 ‹stewartg› Steve, thanks for replying to my "anticipation" posting.Love the new album, this old man is an inspiration to me..thank you!
