Spandau Ballet sax player, Steve Norman, has been recruited for the Symphony Hall, Birmingham special concert.
Steve Harley says: “With several tracks needing a Sax solo played like the originals, and other sax parts occurring throughout the albums – some within the orchestral arrangements – a really great player, one with genuine élan and a rock and soul attitude was needed. I’ve long been a Steve Norman admirer, and it means a great deal to me to know he’ll be playing my songs on stage on that very special night.”
Steve Norman told Steve he had been a fan as a schoolboy and owned both the first Cockney Rebel albums: “We used to take them to school and parade them around the Quad (playground); they were like a badge of honour! It’s amazing to think I’ll be playing those songs on stage, with the man himself. It sounds like a fantastic idea for a concert. I really look forward to it – provided I get to play Judy Teen as well!”
Steve H assured him that track will be included, and said he’ll try to find a way of involving the sax in the track. “I’ll do my best - just to please the great Norman!”
