On the subject of small venues I think the Trinity Arts Theatre in Tunbridge Wells would be a perfect venue here in Kent. It's a converted church, only a stone's throw from the rather soulless Assembly Halls where Steve often plays but with more than twice the atmosphere.
The auditorium seats 291 and costs £1,200 to hire.
