I have a question which people here may be able to answer...

I saw Steve Harley in a documentary about a festival that took place in Essex (poss Suffolk?) when he was young. He attended the festival (not played at it).

In the documentary, he described how the festival was arranged by an amateur and got out of control - he had no experience of arranging such things and had to get other people in to run it, but remarkably he did get some big name acts to attend.

Can anyone here shed any light on this?

Hi there - WEELEY Festival, between Colchester and Clacton. It was a big story, that a load of Hells Angels got rounded up into a marquee. Steev said in that Inside Story doc that he was selling home-made leather belts there with a pal. I think the fest was in 1970, hope that helps.

Don't believe so Jimbo. I think that site is beside the main road. When SH was filmed for the documentary, they were in fields, way into the countryside.
