I'm don't think that Steve couldn't sing 'Back To The Farm' now, unless it was a very different arrangement.

The strain it must have put on his voice to perform it how he did back then must have been immense and what a man can sing in his 20's, he can't in his later life, the voice changes range and depth, I know I can't sing the higher end like I could even 10 years ago.

I'm privileged to have seen those shows and it is worth being old and somewhat knackered to have those memories, but none of us can turn back the clock.

Back to the farm, wow what a haunting tune, always loved the acoustic guitar near the end accompanied by the tinkling piano, classic Cregan and Mackay, anyway, never mind all that, I was there at the Empire Pool, my cousin and best mate Henry went with a mate but we had crap seats. The sound was good though, and Steve did do a longer set due to Smokie's shall we say, stroppiness. I for one went home and threw my only single of theirs in the bin cos I too can be stroppy. Anyway, that's where I obtained my scarf with Steve and the boys printed on it and will be wearing it at the Birmingham do. x

Steve performed Back to the Farm in 1999 at a Belgium Festival. It was purely a 'one off' and was excellent. The screaming was toned down of course,no voice could survive the treatment he gave it in 75 and 76 !! But the 1999 version worked brilliantly.Judge for yourself,it's on Roualt's channel somewhere. With the Menagerie/Psychomodo concert in Steve's mind at the moment i'm sure this song isn't really in his thoughts for a set-list return.Maybe for another time? Possibly his next project, The Best Years of Our Lives and Timeless Flight performed live and complete. Wow....what a thought!!

Phantom, I'll be looking for you in the printed scarf. :) By the way, which seats did you book? We'll be in the Front Stalls, Seats L14 through L16, I believe. It seems far away, but time will pass fast and I need to start planning my trip. I don't even have firm dates thought out yet.

I hope you're well and happy. All the best, Cheri

Back To The farm Live in the 70s, was a real scary highlight of the shows.I feel Steve's "now" voice would make a great job of it - even if the screaming is toned down a bit!
