I made the round trip last night from Reading to Milton Keynes in filthy weather (70 miles each way) to catch the acoustic show. It was well worth it, a small intimate venue (500 people?) and a good turnout.
Highlights for me were:
No Bleeding Hearts (the opener and not one I had dared hope for),
Best Years of our Lives (so what if someone forgot the first line...)
Journey's End (with intro about the kids (not) leaving home),
Last Time I Saw You (never thought I would hear this played live!),
Tumbling Down (in a lovely slightly up-tempo arrangement with Barry on guitar and Steve on harmonica, introduced by "how I met Bob Dylan"),
This Old Man (for those with ageing parents...),
Stranger Comes To Town (with just keyboard and guitar),
The Lighthouse (brilliant version with violin solo to die for),
Mr Raffles, played slightly flamenco,
Riding the Waves, with twin acoustic guitars and an extended singalong coda.
A great evening and well worth catching if you can (not that many readers here will need encouragement!).
Thanks Steve, Barry and James for a wonderful show.
