As I'm relatively close to California (well...Washington State, but closer than the UK) I'm sending some Harley stuff you might enjoy. Ebay is notorious for scumbags who rip off not only fans but also the artists. Real fans share freely (need to stress I'm pirating nothing and happily sending at my expense).
I bought Cockney Rebel's first two lp's all those years ago and have been a casual fan (never seen him live) ever since.
Saw this site the other day after googling Steve.

Dave E, I am not ignoring you, I think I was just surprised by your post and got caught up in Ana's upcoming trip to the UK to see Steve. You are being most generous and I thank you so very much for thinking of me. :)

I'm curious: How did you become a fan of Steve Harley? How did you hear about him? It's always good to find fans in the US; they are few and far between. I only wish there were more so Steve would come over here and do some concerts!

Yours gratefully,
Cheri

That's okay, I only joined really to let you know I was going to send something. I thought it best rather than for you to get a small package unexpected through the post. I am hoping it arrives today as I posted Tuesday and was told Friday.

I know what it's like to really enjoy a band/artist. I have many cd's (I'm talking hundreds - of bands most people have never heard of) and the last time I really got into a band was the early 90's and "Green On Red". Superb blend of blues/country and rock.
So when I saw you had been ripped off a little and I had some Cockney Rebel stuff I decided to share.

I became a "fan" when I first heard Sebastian out as a single in the early 70's, although I didn't get into them perhaps as much as I did Zeppelin/Deep Purple/King Crimson and Pink Floyd etc.
I'm a Brit ex pat and so heard Steve early on.
So.. I hope everything arrives intact and enjoy.

Dave E, I got the package!!!! Oh, my God, what a treat!! I haven't listened to all of them yet, there are so many. I'm making a special Windows Media Player folder for all the CDs. Since I can't make it to Britain this summer, this is the next best thing to being at one of Steve's live concerts!! I can't thank you enough. I don't know what to say, except thank you, thank you, thank you! :D

On the Buzzcocks Appearance thread Brigade Rider told me about an Alan Parsons Project song called "The Voice" that Steve sings the vocals for. It's on an album called "I Robot" from 1977. I found it on YouTube and am posting in for your listening enjoyment. :) We can never get enough Steve Harley, can we?

Stella posted the link to this video over on the Guestbook. It's Vasilis singing Sebastian translated into Greek and performed in 1985. It's good, but personally, I've NEVER heard any cover of Steve's music that was better than he could sing it himself. What do you think? :)

Steve, congratulations on the marriage of your son. I hope the day is a beautiful one and that it turns out to be everything you hoped for, and more. :)
