Well, surprise of surprises, I actually have a boyfriend now!! It's been YEARS (no one ever asks me out). Anyway, he lives in California but is building a home in Montana. He phoned me up from Montana and told me to get on the next flight there, where he wined and dined me to my heart's content. We had some fabulous meals, one by a master chef, and listened to a guy named John Dunnigan at a club, who has opened for Bruce Springsteen several times and sat and chatted with us for awhile. I told him all about Steve and am thinking of sending him some of Steve's CDs so he can learn some of the songs and perhaps expose more people to Steve's music. It's just insane that we don't have Steve's music over here.
Anyway, the reason I'm telling you all this is because among all the other gifts that Scott has given me, he recently purchased a concert ticket for the November concert in Birmingham!! He won't be sitting with Kathy, Ros and I in the front stalls unfortunately, but he did manage to get a front row seat in one of the back tiers. He knows how much I love Steve Harley. In fact, I brought all of my Steve CDs with me on the trip for the long drive home. It took us THREE DAYS to drive back to California and we listened to Steve for hours and hours and hours. We went over the Continental Divide and the Sierras. We had the thickest snow in the Nevada/California border area and had to put chains on our tires to get over the mountains. It was very slow going. Then, on the way down the Sierras, we got a flat tire!
Scott was changing the tire himself when a tow truck happened to drive by on the way to another call and assisted Scott in getting the tire replaced. What luck! Otherwise, we were looking at 1 1/2 hours for assistance to come.
In regards to the Birmingham concert, there now will be a small delegation from the US, what with Scott, Kathy and I coming from California/Montana, and Ana and her friend.
I am so much looking forward to meeting all of you and having a party!
Love, Cheri
